Agility Twist and Axis Rustico Washed

Axis Rustico Washed vinyl plank

Calibro Workspace spoke to Duraflor about their flooring requirements when taking up the challenge of designing a 5,500 sq ft workspace for their internationally-focussed technology client.

A former Linen Mill provided the perfect backdrop for creating areas where teams could work, hold meetings, focus on projects and relax. A key part of the brief was to maximise the opportunity for individual flexible-working and collaboration. A combination of carpet tiles and luxury vinyl tiles were chosen to match the requirements of both offices and breakout area.

The subtle blocks of colour in AGILITY TWIST perfectly complemented the exposed brickwork and steel columns of the building. Its random lay pattern provided the same flexibility of installation as many of the features associated with this comprehensive fit-out.

For the breakout area a café style was chosen and the pale wood-effect of AXIS RUSTICO WASHED was used, as it tied in with the overall aesthetics of the design – pastel finishes and grey random lay flooring with pops of colour on the soft seating and desktop screens.

Axis, Progression and Strategy

Axis vinyl flooring and Progression carpet tiles in PSA office

PSA Finance, one of the UKs leading car finance providers, enlisted the help and expertise of design and build company Area to create a new working environment in Redhill, Surrey. Having previously operated in a very traditional, cellular style office, PSA worked closely with Area to create a flexible workspace that would facilitate collaboration and activity based working.

The specification included two of Duraflor’s most popular ranges, AXIS and PROGRESSION, which are ideally suited to workplace environments, as they are very wear resistant and provide a quality finish. The colours Steel Shot and Rustico Washed were effectively combined to create a multi-floored space ideal for facilitating activity based working. The design also included multi-functional training rooms with bi fold walls allowing for further flexibility. These spaces were fitted with Duraflor’s STRATEGY Tundra Grey carpet tiles.

Freedom Storm – Mineral and Boulder

Freedom Storm Mineral in London Office

A private school in Alloa undertook a large project to install a state-of-the-art learning facility designed to enhance Self Directed Learning.

The redesign featured soundproof pods, brainstorming rooms, virtual classroom equipment and more, meaning a high quality finish was paramount. In a neutral yet stylish design, FREEDOM STORM tiles were selected. Its “heavyweave™” tufting process means it is structured to retain its outstanding appearance for years to come, even in the high traffic environment of a school.

The FREEDOM STORM range goes beyond simply providing durability, the subtlety of this pattern gives the floor an air of luxury. It is therefore no surprise STORM is our most popular designs in the FREEDOM COLLECTION – a collection inspired by both nature and the urban environment. The colours Mineral and Boulder were particularly effective at providing a classy floor suited to a modern and successful private school.

Freedom Storm – Mineral

When market-leading furniture providers Mobili Office came to renew their showroom space, making the correct choice of flooring was of paramount importance.

In an environment that is showcasing furniture, it is important to have the perfect décor to highlight products and create the right ambience for showroom visitors. A concept Duraflor knows only too well, and something we pride ourselves on – helping create an inviting and often relaxing area for visitors.

Mobili Office wanted a luxurious, relaxing environment, with a modern clean look and a floor that would not detract from their inspiring range of practical office furniture solutions.

The Solution

The flooring had to be hard-wearing, soil-hiding, timeless and able to withstand a number of furniture moves, while continually looking its best.  The Freedom Collection was the obvious choice, its  heavyweave tufting process means that it is structured to remain as good as the day it is laid for years to come. Its tight tuft density and the fact it uses more yarn than many comparable products ensures this. The use of Antron 6.6 yarn with an in-built stain reducing technology, offers a further guarantee of a great looking floor.

But Freedom goes beyond simply providing durability, it is an available in timeless non-intrusive designs inspired by both nature and the urban environment. Working perfectly with the many different fabric colours, wood shades and metal finishes – Storm Mineral was the perfect choice to showcase Mobili’s extensive ranges.

Freedom Storm – Flagstone

When the building offers such an imposing vista over the Thames and brings employees even closer to London’s iconic buildings, there is a need for a range that can really complement this birds-eye view.

Our client choose from the Freedom Collection – the Storm range, and they focused on the subtle combination of mid and light-grey tones, which create our Flagstone colour option. A random lay tile, that has excellent sustainability credentials; as well as a design that brings the elements of a dramatic sky right into the heart of the office.

With over 1000m² and spread over 3 floors, our client wanted a stunning floor covering for their serviced offices project, in the building that is also the home to the Daily Star, Daily Express and OK Magazine.

Freedom is particularly hard wearing and easy to clean due to it’s heavyweave™ construction and antron® 6.6 yarn with enhanced stain resistant properties. The heavyweave™ construction means there is 35% more yarn per m² than comparable products and 30% greater tuft density. That means we can guarantee that it will stay looking perfect on the floor for many years to come, providing a consistently great look to match that ever changing London skyline.

Momenta – Black Slate & Metallic Grey

Carbon Black wanted their new 5,500ft space to have a modern industrial look and feel to complement the buildings exposed services, whilst also reflecting the company’s brand identity.

This GTA Interiors achieved through utilising the blacks and greys of Carbon Blacks branding, with the brand’s blues and oranges used as accents throughout. Momenta Black Slate and Momenta Metallic Grey vinyl tiles proved the perfect choice for the feature breakout area. The colour choice was perfectly aligned to the design brief and enabled a high degree of creativity, to stunning effect.

Momenta is available in a range of beautiful traditional wood and stone colours, but the range also lends itself to achieving a very different look when combing Metalic Grey (or Metallic Rust) with stone designs, as in this case. All of the Momenta range can also be purchased in small Herringbone pieces, allowing for even greater originality with this versatile and hard wearing range.

Momenta – Rusticana

For Strava Fitness Apps, McFeggan Brown wanted to create a look that brought the essence of the company into its design. We liked the innovative approach they took so much we featured this project in our Practical Design blog: Is design more important than office location.

The company used Momenta Rusticana to blend perfectly with their design scheme which was to bring outdoor activities indoors – a beautiful country scene complete with bicycles.

Momenta is a heavy contract Luxury Vinyl Tile that is perfect for high traffic areas. As a range it is carefully textured and is micro-bevelled on all sides, and has great depth of colour, so it looks stunning in almost any environment. As with all LVT products it is easy to maintain another pre-requisite of the project.

Momenta – Argento

For this investment company in the City, the brief was to provide inspiring breakout areas, which focussed on collaboration. Kinetic Workplace took on the challenge and created some inspiring spaces for their client.

This coordinated perfectly with the furniture and finishes. Giving the room a light and airy feel, yet providing a floor that is easy to install, easy to maintain and also guaranteed to look good for years to come, even in areas of heavy traffic.

Momenta – Aspect

eXPD8 recognised the importance of providing a happy and healthy working environment, so they asked Interaction to incorporate this into their new office design.

Interaction opted for a ‘raw’ design with exposed ceilings and electrical works, that complimented the building and created an industrial and transparent look, yet with fun elements throughout. Their choice of luxury vinyl tiles, to blend perfectly with their design and to work well in a busy office environment, was Momenta Mill Grey.

Interaction were also looking for a carpet tile with a design, which would incorporate their client’s corporate orange colour and give the office spaces a lift, while not detracting from the overall theme. Duraflor’s Aspect Rockface combined with Aspect Linear Abseil (a coordinating linear design), really enhanced the open plan office space, delivering on both the aesthetic and practical needs of a demanding office environment.
